At LearnGreenlandic GREENLAND, we specialize in teaching Greenlandic and Danish. We are based in Nuuk, Greenland, but we also offer online courses, and we can come to you, too. Greenlandic 

The Greenlandic courses are made up of four basic modules, where you build up a basic knowledge of the language, culture and society, and learn to express yourself in simple terms and understand most texts. The fifth module is more based on oral conversation and helps you to really get out into the community and hold conversations with the locals. 

On Greenlandic 1 you learn to pronounce Greenlandic and introduce yourself and your family. You gain a basic knowledge of language and culture and build up a small vocabulary that you will need in your everyday life.  

On Greenlandic 2 you learn to connect several pieces of information in one sentence and, for example, retell what happened. You learn to express time and space and expand your vocabulary. 

On Greenlandic 3 you learn to answer questions like when, how and why, and to nuance your language with comparisons and temporal and spatial clarifications. 

On Greenlandic 4 you try to read the newspaper and understand spoken Greenlandic. At this point you have gone through all the elementary grammar and have learned to use the aids that are available, but you still need vocabulary and to practice your language skills. We play with mini dialogues and collaborate about figuring out how to say the sentences that you need. The content of the course varies from time to time, so you can benefit from repeating the course as many times as you want until you are able to participate at level 5.  

On Greenlandic 5 we expect the participants to be able to understand a great deal of Greenlandic. Some of our students at this level were born and raised in Greenland, but have either not learned Greenlandic or have since forgotten it. The teaching is usually based on a text or a film or sound clip, and you are encouraged to retell and discuss what you have read, seen and heard. Teaching usually takes place in Greenlandic. Of course you can ask questions in English, if needed.

Danish 

Most of our Danish classes are held in our cozy rooms in the center of Nuuk, Greenland. Participants may have different levels, but they will be matched in their levels and work together in groups or pairs. We will be happy to set up a course that suits your needs, either here in Nuuk, online or where you work. Just find a few friends that would like to learn with you, and contact us.
